Four Short Trips from Quy Nhơn City, with Fresh On-the-Ground Tips

Quick Answer: Cù Lao Xanh boats now leave from the new Mũi Tấn pier off Xuân Diệu, not Hàm Tử. Chùa Bà at Nước Mặn was built in the 17th century; look for the square Chăm wells. Ghềnh Ráng parking costs 3k; go around 4:30pm (10am is scorching). A new road to Nhơn Lý cuts the distance but watch for strong crosswinds on the Nhơn Hội side. All details from videos by Người Quy Nhơn.

Guidebooks give you the basics. This guide adds what changed recently. Every detail comes from rides filmed by Người Quy Nhơn, a local channel that rides around the area daily.

Cù Lao Xanh: The Boats Moved

Boats no longer leave from Hàm Tử. They now go from the new Mũi Tấn pier off Xuân Diệu, away from the fishing port (video, 0:50). Staff check life jackets before boarding (video, 9:31). Hải Giang, also served from that area, is temporarily not taking visitors (video, 1:42).

Chùa Bà (Thiên Hậu Miếu), Nước Mặn

The on-site plaque says the temple was built by the Chinese community in the 17th century and ranked as a provincial relic on 20 July 2010 (video, 8:02). Look for the square Chăm wells (video, 7:37). Filming isn't allowed inside the main shrine (video, 5:48). The creator mentions press reports billing Nước Mặn as a birthplace of chữ quốc ngữ (video, 1:40).

Ghềnh Ráng and Bãi Trứng

Parking cost 3,000 VND. 10am is scorching, so go around 4:30pm or very early (video, 8:42). Vehicles can't go down to Bãi Trứng nearby (video, 9:03).

The New Road to Nhơn Lý

A new road through the Eo Gió area cuts a good stretch off the ride (video, 5:01). Hold on tight on the Nhơn Hội side, though: the creator was pushed sideways by the crosswind (video, 16:21).
